This "Golden Orb Sunset" painting serves as a meditation, inspired by a sunset I watched in Big Sur, California, where the mountains meet the sea.
The white sun seemed so hot and bright that day, that it seemed like I could almost reach out and grab it. So here I made my sun look almost like it’s going to pop off the painting. The effect is a raised orb (created from acrylic and modeling paste) that protrudes almost 2 inches from sturdy canvas board, surrounding by pure saturation of the sunset’s fiery hues, melting into the blurred background of the landscape.
